Charles Rothschild, from Los Altos, California, is the Secretary of the Executive Board of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ). He is also a member of the WUPJ North American Advisory Board (NAAB), focused on helping North American Reform Jews expand their horizons to explore worldwide Progressive Judaism. Charlie has been heavily involved in the North American Reform Movement, where he has served on the Board of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) for almost 25 years. He has held numerous URJ roles, including Vice Chair, and was President of the Canadian Council for Reform Judaism when he lived in Canada. Charlie is a past president of Congregation Beth Am, which has 1,700 member families, in Los Altos Hills, and Temple Shalom, with 50 member families, in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Charlie is currently one of the leaders of Congregation Beth Am’s Tzedek program, where he is advocating for early childhood education for every child in California under the age of five. Charlie is recently retired from the Silicon Valley high tech world, where he spent an almost 40-year career with Hewlett Packard and subsidiaries. Charlie lives with his wife Susan, a children’s lawyer, and their Golden Retriever, Derby.
