Oded Avissar (Ph.D.)
Oded Avissar (Ph.D.) is the director of the Education Department in Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism (IMPJ). A former educator, teacher, director and supervisor in the Ministry of Education, he has a B.A. in Archeology and History from Hebrew University, M.A. in Jewish Studies from the Schechter Institute, and his Ph.D. in Israel Studies from Bar Ilan. He founded the Center for Teachers’ Professional Development in Jewish Studies in Beit Yatsiv, Be’er Sheba, and served as director for 20 years. His is one of the founding families of the Reform congregation in Tsur Hadassah, and he has been an active member ever since.
