Rabbi Mark Goldsmith
Mark Goldsmith has been Rabbi at Alyth Synagogue in Golders Green, London since 2006. He was previously Rabbi at two other London Progressive Synagogues since gaining smicha at Leo Baeck College in 1996, where he now teaches. He has worked with his Alyth partner Rabbi Josh Levy to build lifelong learning, working with the stages of life of congregants; from teenagers, through parents, to the retired, all have different needs, which they aim to meet. As well as face-to-face Jewish learning, Alyth has created remote access learning programs and learning opportunities at members’ workplaces, especially in the area of Jewish Business Ethics, which is Mark’s special study interest. The teaching highlight of Mark’s week is the Alyth Talmud Class, which has been taking place weekly for 12 years since it was founded by Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner. Mark is past Chair of both the Assembly of Reform Rabbis UK and the Rabbinic Conference of Liberal Judaism.
