Steve Denenberg spent 40 years in professional and volunteer positions in Social Work and Community Services, including 16 years as the CEO of Jewish Care, 7 years as CEO of Emanuel Synagogue in Sydney, and 8 years as the Executive Director of the Union for Progressive Judaism (UPJ). Steve is now a Personal Fitness & Nutrition Coach and Corrective Exercise specialist. In this work he is seeking to extend the health and wellbeing of older people by ensuring that they undertake challenging but safe programmes of activity and nutrition. He has recently developed a unique approach to wellbeing of the older generation called “The Resistance Movement,” which combines and includes cardiovascular, endurance and resistance exercises in a group or individual setting. As current President of ARZA Australia and Chair of the Advocacy Committee of the International Federation of Reform and Progressive Religious Zionists, ARZENU, Steve is committed to ensuring that the voice of Progressive Jews is heard within the Australian community and around the world. He continues to advocate for Israel and to work toward the Jewish State becoming the inclusive and democratic society outlined in the Declaration of Independence, and wanted by the majority of Jews around the world.
